Hi! I’m Jenny – wife, mom, lover of Jesus, and former 5th grade teacher. With a husband as a high school coach, and six adult children, I quit my teaching job to have more free time. I have always loved spending time in the kitchen, and have worked a couple of different jobs at bakeries. I didn’t learn to sew seriously until I was married and became pregnant for the first time. Thinking of purchasing an entirely new wardrobe seemed like it could drain the bank account, so I turned to making maternity clothes for myself. Then I started sewing for the kids, making everything possible.

I started this blog to be able to both bake and sew again, while sharing my experiences with you. Working for one bakery, the owner was not picky on measuring, which suited me just fine. Years later, I worked for another bakery, where I had to measure everything with a scale, and level each measuring cup with a knife. Ugh! That took the fun out of baking for me, as it became more of a science than simply enjoying creating in the kitchen. This blog is to let you experience baking without all the technicalities of those details. I am also a very simple baker, using items you keep as staples on your shelves. I am not one who concocts new recipes, as I’m not smart enough for that. But I am really good at tweaking them! When my daughters and daughters-in-law call for a recipe, they know to ask whether I actually follow the recipe, or what I do differently.
As my kids got older, my sewing decreased. Their clothes had to actually start fitting, and when they didn’t, I had no idea how to alter them! Store-bought clothes quickly became a larger percentage of my kids’ clothing, and I started sewing less and less, finally ceasing altogether. So when I took up sewing again, I started sewing bags. One size fits all! No altering!

I love chocolate (and sugar!), but I struggle with whether I should eat it before or after I work out! Besides baking and sewing, I can got lost in a book, and I love to play the piano. I’m the biggest fan my husband has of his athletic teams, so I love attending his games and meets. I especially love when we can get together with our kids and their families! I enjoy studying the Bible, and I’m still working on becoming the person God wants me to be.
